No Wonder.....

My very good friend and birding buddy, Kathie of Kathie's Birds, http://kathiesbirds.blogspot.com,(who gave me a hard time tonight about not having a recent post)  and I talk on the phone about what birds we are seeing in our yard at various times.  Last week, I commented that the birds had disappeared and I did not know why...
well, now I know...

It's is hard to tell from this picture since the trees are bare, very far left is a seed feeder, then a thistle feeder, a suet feeder and another seed feeder hanging from the scrub oak trees.  Sitting in the partially snow-covered front yard is one of the three "neighborhood" cats that roam my yard...

He sat patiently while waiting and watching
for any birds to come near....

After at least 15 minutes he shot me a glaring look before turning to walk away unsatisfied!

The birds in my yard this time of year are Dark-eyed Juncos, Black-capped Chickadees, House Finches, Western Scrub Jays, Northern Flickers, Downy Woodpeckers, Spotted Towhees, American Goldfinches, Eurasian Collared Doves, and Black-billed Magpies.

Snow Basin and Powder Mountain Ski resorts are open with decent amount of snow, but only a little snow left in My Mountain Green yard with its 5200' +/- elevation.  Cold, but dry weather is forecasted for the next week or so.

Hey Kathryn, perhaps you should get some "snowballing" practice in.{:)

As usual the forecast was wrong, it is lightly snowing now.

Katnell, perhaps you need some dogs to chase those darned cats away!...or a huge Great horned owl to eat them! (Where are those coyotes when you need them!) I'm so sorry to hear this!
